Holiday Inn Town Lake Austin

I had often wanted to stay in this hotel, but always feared I couldn't afford it because it was so close to downtown, but I had enough priority points to stay for free. I loved the location and the round towers offered some pretty incredible views.

The hotel was going through some renovations (May 2008) and it was a bit messy and inconvenient.

They have a nice free parking garage for guest. The location was great, right off 1-35 near Town Lake. It is close to everything including the State capital, 6th street UT and the warehouse district. You can go hiking or biking right outside of the hotel. They also offer tours on those Segways. There is a office right in the lobby. Many people took the tour and looked please when they returned.

Free wifi in your room and throughout the hotel is a convenient way to pass time. They also have a public computer set up in the lobby free for hotel guest.

I was a bit surprised at the service. I waited for 35 minutes to get my room and they didn't seem to think anything about that. Many guest stood around waiting to be checked in, but the staff was not very receptive. Other than that, this was a pretty good property. They have a restaurant on the first floor. Not bad, but if you can, get out and go eat in Austin.
