Location has it's good and bad points Feb 22, 2009
I stayed at this hotel for a business convention. It was definitely cheaper than staying in any of the Renaissance Center's hotels where the convention was taking place, but there is definitely a reason for that. They were undergoing renovation in the interior atrium of the hotel, which made for a mess, but hopefully the place will look nicer once that is completed.
The location is a bit odd. It faces the side of the enormous convention center on the opposite side from the Edward Jones Dome. This side is where the delivery entrances are and the street seems to be seldom used. The hotel is surrounding by parking lots, which were completely empty and must be used for event parking. So walking to the hotel, especially at night, doesn't feel the safest. Once you walk the couple of blocks to Washington Street, it actually is a descent location for being able to walk to the convention center, the dome, the Arch, and Laclede's Landing. When I was there, WiFi reception was non-existent in the rooms, but worked fine in the lobby, which was picking up a signal from the bar. |
