Holiday Inn Nurnberg City Centre Nuremberg Reviews
Much better than expected Jun 14, 2010
I had never stayed in the inner part of Nürnberg before and I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere of the life inside the city wall. I had often been in the city but mostly in the outskirts, and I had often been in a hurry. The inner city was like a city in the city with old houses and an amazing city wall.
I had booked my stay at the Holiday Inn and lately I had been quite disappointed of the quality of the chain compared to my old picture of the Holiday Inn hotels that I had known many years back.
The hotel is situated in a part of the inner city that was a rather lively neighbourhood; there were a lot of bar and clubs in near proximity of the hotel. Close to the hotel you can also find some restaurants that are worth while visiting.
The hotel is nice and spacious; it is a typical hotel for hosting conferences and the therefore knows how to serve businessmen. While I was there for two days there were at least 4 venues each day.
There is a large parking in the basement, which actually is affordable; they only charge 12 euro per 24 hours, and you have accessibility 24/7 but the best thing is that you can park your car in the spaces and not like so many others where you almost have to push your car in.
The receptionists were fast and friendly; for once I didn’t have to give more information than what was needed at the booking moment, which I really appreciated because there are so many places where you have to do it all over again when you are at the hotel.
They gave me a room on the first floor and as I entered I was pleasantly surprised. The room was bright, nice and rather spacious. There was a comfortable large king size bed, a good size desk for a change, meaning one that you actually could work at. There was an ironing board, and some chairs to relax in as well. There were a large window in order get light in to the room; something that I have missed in many hotel rooms lately. The bath room was nice as well; it had all that you needed even a good sized bathtub.
The breakfast was served in a room next to the reception and the entrance lounge. There were a lot of small tables which is nice when you travel alone. Waiters were also eager to help you with fresh coffee and so on. The breakfast itself was quite okay with a typical German repertoire consisting of a huge selection of sausages, lever pâtés and cheeses.
On the ground floor you could use a free Wi-Fi, while you had to use and pay for Telecom access in the rooms. I really don’t understand why there is such a huge difference between the Wi-Fi services at the hotels. Wi-Fi should be mandatory; we live in a world where 50 percent of the total population is online except in a hotel.
Part of the Germany; an underestimated tourist country! travel blog
Part of the list Hotels that I for one or another reason stumbled in to.
