Holiday Inn Houston South Loop

The Holiday Inn Houston Reliant Park is located in the southwest area of central Houston directly north of Reliant Stadium and Reliant Park. Houston is easy to get around in considering it is billed as the fourth largest city in the U.S. Houston is mostly flat terrain and the only large group of high rise buildings is in the central downtown area. A somewhat simplified geographic sketch of Houston is from city center, the city has two highway circles around it. The inner circle is Interstate 630 and the outer circle is Beltway 8. These two circles are bisected by U.S. Highway 59 from northeast to southwest and by Interstate 45 from north central to southeast Houston, the highway to Galveston and the gulf coast. The Holiday Inn is located very near the extreme southwest corner of the Interstate 630 Loop at the Kirby exit. This area has a number of hotels due to the long time location of the Houston Astrodome. The Astrodome was one of the first sports and convention domes in the US and is still located directly east of Reliant Stadium. The Astrodome is currently not in use but there are plans to turn it into a movie studio. The Astrodome has a long history and a tour can be arranged from the hotel activities desk. The present location of Reliant Stadium was the location for many years of Astros Park, one of the early large amusement parks in this part of the U.S. The hotel is also located close to the famed Texas Medical Center complex of hospitals, VA Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital just a couple of miles north of the hotel. And 3 miles north is Houston’s renowned Museum District and Hermann Park. There is a hotel shuttle to take you to most of these locations on an hourly basis.

This Holiday Inn is located on Kirby Drive on the north side of Reliant Park with Reliant Stadium and the old Astrodome. The Kirby Drive exit is from Interstate 630 loop near the extreme southwest corner of the loop. There is a pedestrian gate in the security fencing between the hotel and the park property making it an easy walk to events in the park and stadium

The hotel has a nice restaurant and is located across Kirby Drive from a large shopping center with several nice restaurants, a large grocery store, and many shops. One of the outstanding eateries is a Mediterranean buffet, Dimassis which has the freshest vegetables and other Mediterranean style food. There is also a large Mexican restaurant and an Olive Garden restaurant.
