Holiday Inn Helsinki-Vantaa Airport Reviews
Nice airport hotel Jul 25, 2010
I had taken the late plane from Copenhagen to Helsinki and I had planned to stay in Vantaa near the airport during the first night. I was travelling with a colleague and we had rented a car in the airport as well because we were heading for Turku the next day.
We arrived at the hotel close to 11 pm having followed the GPS in our rented car. We parked just outside the main entrance and it seemed like that there were not that many visiting the hotel that day.
We entered and were greeted by a friendly girl speaking perfect English. We got our rooms and asked if there were any possibility to get any food since we were quite hungry. She said that we had to hurry to their restaurant because the kitchen closed at 11pm and we only had 10 minutes; she suggested that we just left our luggage behind the counter and went straight in. We followed her advice and hurried into the empty restaurant.
In the restaurant we were not greeted in the same enthusiastic way; it was almost the opposite, the guy looked like he had seen a ghost or his worst nightmare. It was obvious he mentally had left the building at least an hour ago. We caught the scent and asked if there was a possibility to get a sandwich somewhere and then his eyes lit up a bit. He pointed back to the reception and said that they had a fridge with sandwiches out there.
We settled with the sandwiches and went back to the girl at the counter who guided us to the bar and there open fridge with sandwiches. We took a couple each and ordered also two cold Finnish beers and sat down in their lounge sofas and had our meal. It didn’t take long before we had a second and a third round of beers discussing the coming day’s activities.
After our meal we picked up our luggage behind the counter and went up to our rooms. I have never any expectations when I stay in an airport hotel because they are usually built for the pit stop that they just are.
It turned out that the room was rather nice both in size and in the interior. Best of all the bed seem really nice with a nice size too. It was not that we were staying long in our rooms because we had made an agreement to meet at the breakfast table less than 6 hours later.
After a good but short sleep we joined as the first in the restaurant; it also turned out that their breakfast was okay and I ended up being quite pleased with my stay at this airport hotel, even though we had the little incident in the restaurant. We checked out and it was still the same receptionist as when we checked in. Our Finnish colleague arrived at the parking at the same moment as we left the reception and we were ready to head to the first goal of our little Finnish adventure.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful location close the airport Jun 18, 2009
I paid 95 Euros a night for a double room here. It is situated about 3 KM from the Helsinki Vantaa airport and free shuttle buses run between the hotel and the airport every 20 minutes (except for a three hour break between 12:00 and 15:00 in the afternoon).
The hotel is located in a quite place surrounded by trees. There is a large open backyard with wooden chairs where people can lounge or play games or just stroll.
There is a large entertainment complex called the Jumbo and another one which I dont remember the name of at a 5 minute walking distance from the hotel but even then you never hear any traffic or any noise around. The street outside the hotel is quiet and covered with trees and flowers and is positively beautiful.
Brakfast was extra at 15 Euros per person but is the hugest and most amazingly varied buffet I have ever seen. Totally worth the money in my opinion.
Service was good too and there is a restaurant on the ground floor though it closes at 23:00 and you dont get room service either after that.
There is FREE WIRELESS INTERNET in every room and in the lobby as well.
A definite recommendation from me.
