Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites College Station

I’ve stayed here several times over the years but never written a review, so that oversight is corrected with this entry. The Aggieland Holiday Inn Express is a decent place to stay if you find yourself in College Station, home of Texas A&M University. The location is ideal – on University Drive near the college but also handy to State Route 6, the main drag to and from College Station.

What impresses me most about this hotel is that despite the passage of time it is well maintained and still feels “new”. Can you relate to that? Most places I have returned to grow shabby and faded, but the Express remains sparkling. It might be the service, because many of the employees are local students who haven’t been jaded by life yet and treat you with genuine enthusiasm!

Their breakfast buffet has an attractive selection (but I stay at some real flea-bag joints, so perhaps this is just average, lol) and there are a multitude of enjoyable dining establishments nearby. Many of these are across University Drive, but please don’t be intimidated by the brisk traffic. Rather than hoofing some distance to achieve a red light with pedestrian walkway, I’ve found that the timing of traffic lights provides plenty of windows to easily stroll to the other side (plus there are an equal number of decent eateries on the same side of the street, three blocks East).
