I can recommend the HI Express Toronto Downtown.
The Room was spacious, we had 2 queensize beds and also coffee- and tea-making facilities (for free). Every morning we got a free newspaper to our room and the breakfast was one of the biggest i had in north america. It is in walking distance to mostly all downtown sightseeing attractions (about 8-10 minutes to Ice-Hockey Hall of Fame, 15 Minutes to Air Canada Center and 20 Minutes to CN Tower). The neighboorhood wasn't scary even in the evening. We (two women) always felt very safe. We paid about 26,00 EURO per Person/Night a deluxe continental breakfast included.
