Holiday Inn Express - North Charleston, SC Jul 26, 2008
Ok, what could I possibly say about a Holiday Inn Express that you wouldn't already know?...
Well, for starters, getting here: As you come down Northwoods Blvd, the Holiday Inn Express is going to be a little hard to see until you're pretty close to it. As you pass the Home Depot (on your right), and the Marriott - Residence Inn (on your left) start paying attention to the right hand side of the road. Almost directly accross from the giany ice skating rink will be the entryway to the HIE parking lot. It's really easy to miss. The hotel is located on a right hand curve, and there's lots of trees hiding the entry. But don't worry, if you go too far, you'll end up looking right at the back of the Northwoods Mall, just turn around, the HIE is a couple hundred yards behind you.
If you come to the hotel late at night the inner atrium doors will be locked. You'll have to press the button, located on the right wall, to alert the night clerk that you're there. Also, all of the exterior doors to the hotel are always locked - you will need your room key to get in, day-or-night.
During the evening hours there is a security guard that walks around the property, just keeping an eye on things. Don't get the wrong impresion, this isn't a dangerous place - as far as I know.
There are pleanty of places to eat nearby, getting food will not be a problem. If you feel like walking, there is a Japanese, Thai, or American Barbq place right next to the hotel. If you only feel like walking a little, there is a 24-hr mini-shop in the lobby of the hotel. And if you don't feel like walking at all, lots of places deliver. There is no room service, but the hotel does put on a pretty good breakfast every morning 6:00 - 9:30 am. (eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt and fruit)
One last thing. The hotel does not have an airport shuttle, so, to get to/from the airport you're going to have to take a taxi. Cost should run you $10-$15.
By the way, check-in is at 3:00 pm and check-out is at 12:00 noon but a late check-out is available for Priority Club members. Pets are not allowed at the hotel but there is a kennel about a mile away.
Lastly, for the firness buffs, there is a small fitness facility on site with a treadmill, recumbant stationary bike, and an elliptical machine.
That's about all I can think of to write about the hotel.
