Holiday Inn Express Belfast Reviews
Nice place just outside the city center Jun 09, 2011
The Holiday Inn Express in Belfast is a standard quality hotel situated in a quite used university area approximately 2-3 kilometers from Belfast downtown. The neighbourhood is not the most inspiring but you have some bars and restaurants in close proximity. If you arrive by car you can park the car straight on the street or in the hotel parking, the street can look dodgy but it is not that bad.
I arrived around 8.30 pm and the neighbourhood was quite calm. It was a Thursday evening and there were young people on the streets but I could see that most of them were heading for the city center and the bars and restaurants there. The hotel didn’t really strike me as a hotel and I didn’t really see it was the hotel before some people started to walk in there. The reception area and lounge was quite large with a huge breakfast are to the left of the entrance. The reception was straight ahead and t was combined with and bar. The receptionist was friendly and sweet and she quickly found me in the systems. I had only to sign my name on the keycards and one other place and I was in being given a room on the first floor; 107.
There were many persons sitting in the lounge area do to the area was a Wi-Fi free zone. I went up to my room and I found the hotel quite used and not in the prettiest colours. My room was towards the street and I could look down on my red rental car. The room had a nice size; there was a large desk with numerous of A/C plug-ins and good space to work on if that was one needed. The bathroom was okay with a nice shower and fair in size.
There was also a small sofa and queen size bed, which had nice madras. The room was clean and a good average size and standard. The decoration of the room was a bit without taste; there were too many colours. All the furniture’s were brown; the desk, headboard of the bed and the open closet construction at the entrance. Two walls were white; the one with the window to the street had even a blue curtain, the third wall had a wowed grey tapestry and the fourth light purple. The small sofa was blue and the carpet in grey, white and blue stripes. It was truly a colourful mess.
The Hotel was pretty full and most of the visitors were foreigners: there were especially many Italians. That meant also that the breakfast area was pretty busy when I went down for breakfast. The breakfast was actually quite good; I really like the bacon that you get in Great Britain it is far from the charcoaled continental style that you get most of the places. You had possibility to make a proper Irish breakfast but I settled with half of it; some sausages, bacon, eggs and a croissant, which was more than enough for me.
