Got a cheap flight from Jersey to Cologne and decided to travel via the Romantic Road to Fussen, and ultimately to Munich. Hopped back on the train to Cologne and returned to the states. Blog is only photos for now, text may come later, may not.

I went there back in November 2006. lovely 2 week trip. i went to Munich, Cologne, Nurmberg, Regensburg, Rothenburg, and King Ludwig of Bavaria castle in Germany. then went to Innsbruck, Austria and the tail end of the trip Amsterdam.

From 11 to 19 August 2007 in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria & Slovakia. 9-day, 3100 km, fully geotagged, convertible driven trip through Central Europe.

The world famous castle, built by King Ludwig of Bavaria, who was obsessed with the world of fairy tales and Richard Wagner. Died under mysterious circumstances and construction on the castle was never completed. (Constructed 1869-1892)

We set our alarm for 7:25am as our goal was to have showers and eat and be on the road by 8:30.  But the shower was a bit of an ordeal for me.  You’d think that after 37 years, I’d have that part of my daily routine down.  But it’s usually the most unexpected things that can throw a wrench into your plans. Visiting Europe in March of 2007. I had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

 I didn't want to be rushed like in 1989 and miss both castles there. This way we could take our time and enjoy the place. when we got to Hohenschwangau, both castles were shrouded in mist. Drove down the Romantic road on our way to Neuschwanstein. If you ever come to Germany for a visit you have to come to this place. It is situated on the German/Austrian border, and it is the castle that Walt Disney based Cinderella's castle. It was built over a 17 year period (1869-1886) but was never completed due to the death of King Ludwig II. Bavaria in the Summer

Hohenschwangau is one of the most majestic places on earth in my opinion. Not one, put two castles! The familial Hohenschwangau Castle, radiating its yellow hue atop an emerald hilltop.
