Great Value Oct 15, 2008
We had a great time on the Hobo Railroad of Lincoln, NH. This railroad uses modern type diesel electric to pull three cars on a 1 ½ hour round trip trek along the Pemigewasset River. The route is very scenic, with gorgeous views of the White Mountains. Making the trip more pleasant are the fully enclosed passenger cars. Two of the cars come equipped with tables, so you can eat a meal. Tickets for this trip were a very economical $12 and for another five you can get a sack lunch. In addition to 1 ½ hour quickie trips, the railroad offers longer Fall Foliage trips and Dinner trips as well.

At the depot they have a gift shop that sells candy and soda. (Don’t try Moxie Soda, unless bitter birch beer is your favorite. Apparently this Maine originated drink has been around since before the invention of sugar). Out side there is playground area for the kids, cutouts for pictures, and enough trees and railroad equipment for nice photo ops. We would definitely do this again, if we ever find ourselves back in Lincoln.
