I spent 4 weeks backpacking through Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia. Vietnam is absolutely the most beautiful country I have ever been to! The people in this region are incredibly friendly, humble and appreciative and I would gladly go back given the opportunity!

The Peter Allen song starts "I've been to cities that never close down, New York and Rio and old London town" So I thought why not use the song to plan my trip? Add Tokyo and Lisbon, starting Dec 5. Include New years eve and Carnival in Rio and check the Iguazu falls from the Argentine side. My good friend Dave Wylie found me an apartment in Copacabana right near the beach, another good friend from my home in Surfers Paradise, Sudzie, said "hey mate I am coming with you to Rio".

Yet another 6 hours on the bus. I had a smooth crossing at the Cambodia/Vietnam border. The bus I took was acutally packed with Singaporeans, but they were all from a tour group. It was easy to tell they were Singaporean. Even a fellow American traveller I met on the bus could tell. The way Singapo…

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, was a bit chaotic. It had aspects of Bangkok, Phnom Penh, and Jakarta all mixed together...but usually not the positive aspects. And the tourist district of Pham Ngu Lao doesn't come across as appealing as other cities' tourist areas though. The city cent…

I have the days all mixed up now. I have no idea which date this should be and why I was on 14th when it should have been way later. Oh well.
