Prague, Czech Republic -› -› ...
MY first day in Prauge was captivaitng. I have never see a city so pretty and so unique. We started the day by exploring Old Town Square. I was so impressed by the astronomical clock. I love the "story" behind it. The city of Prague had commisioned a clockmaker to make the clock.  The man built it, but the city did not want him to duplicate it so they blinded him. One night he decided to disable the clock so no one would know how to fix it. The clock did not work for over 200 years, fina...

The car on the train from Bratislava to Prague was rickety and loud, so noise kept me from going into a deep sleep.  I also had vertigo really bad.  Every time I rolled over, dizziness overwhelmed me, and I felt like I was going to pass out...a strange sensation when you're already lying down and "asleep." We got off the train in Prague, and I still felt very unsteady and weak.  We sat down for some coffee, and I started feeling nauseous.  I found a bathroom and spent clo...

Prague is the city you can't help falling in love with. Narrow streets of old town, gothic cathedrals and tastiest beer. It from now and on will have a special room in my heart:)

The most touristed city in Eastern Europe

I went out last night into Prague with a lot of people from the hostel, and we partied big time.  First we went to a couple pubs and sampled the Czech beer, and then when the absinthe shot came out it was time to move on.  I thought that absinthe was only drunk with water and sugar, and in cocktail form, but someone must have figured that tourists don't care, and started selling shots.  It's foul-tasting stuff, and I wanted no more of it. After the pubs, we walked to club Roxy...

I haven't had a chance to sit down and write much and connect with everyone back at home....so sorry. The journey has been amazing so far. I ended up staying in Berlin longer than I anticipated but was glad I ended up hanging around. Was able to celebrate the German victories over Austria and Portugal. Being in a German beer garden during the Euro2008 cup is something I will never forget! The city went insane. After a couple days I headed down to Prague and as most people do, I fell in l...

I have been to Prague several times as my best friend moved there a couple of years ago. In 2005 we got together with several of our friends to come to her wedding there. We spent some great time there. The only negative moment was a big crowd all over the city. Tourists were everywhere, you couldn't go to Karluv Most because you couldn't see it because of the people. So the day of the wedding we woke up at 5 in the morning and went for an early morning walk. Karluv Most had a couple of visit...

A work in progress...For spring break 2007, I ventured to the ever popular "Munich, Prague, Vienna and Budapest tour of Central Europe." Naturally the trip included a trip to Dachau and Neuschwanstein Castle as well as other points of interest along this popular track. Slightly off the beaten path was a surprise trip to Passau, Germany, home of the world's largest pipe organ. It was quite amazing to hear it play on Easter Sunday!

We were staying next to the Old Town so we looked around this part of Prague first.  We did the usual touristy things like looking at the astronomical clock and the castle and of course, there is Charles’ bridge which is interesting to walk over.  We also went on a pedal boats on the River Vltava which was relaxing (at least for me as I couldn't do any pedalling).  We took a quick visit to Modern Prague but this was really uninspiring as it really could have ju...

In my first two days in the Czech Republic I have eaten the best veg korma of my life, ridden 220km by train, missed a connecting bus and hitch hiked from the middle of nowhere at 11pm to Jevicko where im staying, went to the local pub where awful soft porn was playing on tv in the corner, cycled 30km to a fairytale castle, breaking a pedal on the last hill, then watched the runner up of Czech idol perform at a beerfest nearby...
