Historic Centre of Cesk Krumlov Reviews
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rafting in a city more beautiful and more friendly than the more flashy Prague Jul 02, 2008
Arriving in Cesky Krumlov, it can be a bit disconcerting as the train station is in the middle of nowhere. However, once you walk into the centre, you cannot help but by instantly charmed by the beautiful walled city. Perched on a hill, surrounded by a moat like river, the castle rises in magnificent splendour, it almost fairy tale pinky colour making stand out from the average castle. Accommodation is quickly booked up by backpackers in the summer months so its worth booking the night before on the net if you are planning to stay. Once you have soaked up the cultural centre (including the bear in the moat), there are some great taverns and restaurants for food. But the best adventure, which requires at least a whole afternoon), is taking out a raft from the shop next to one of the youth hostels on the edge of the centre, and floating down the river over the various weirs, around the town and out into the peaceful country. Even better, its all down stream and they'll pick you up at the other end! Take a picnic, don't rush and really have a great (slightly wet) laugh. Also, mountain bikes might well be worth renting for a good explore around the area if you have the time.
Cesky Krumlov is a world heritage site. |
