May 26, 1995

Located in and the capital of the Belgian Province of West Flanders (Provincie West-Vlaanderen).

On a beautiful, sunny day in May, Hans and I along with Hans' sisters Anne-Marie and Nel and husband Jean, made a day trip to the beautiful city of BRUGGE in Belgium. We took the scenic route through the medieval town of Middelburg and then at Vlissingen, took the ferry across the Westerschelde. We made a short stop in Sluis, which is on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium and then made our way to Brugge.

Brugge is a medieval city of stunning beauty and charm -- Romantic and Gothic all rolled into one. Rich in architectural treasures like the Belfry, the Church of Our Lady and the Provincial Court Building. Teeming with Canals and Waterways.

So much to do like "Horse Carriage Tours" and "Canal Boat Tours" and so much to see like Chocolate Shops and Cobblestoned Streets.

It took me a while to straighten my neck out as I was forever looking up at the details of the wonderful structures in Brugge. Every corner opened up yet another beautiful view.

Note: Hans and I visited Brugge in 1995 - Long before digital was even invented. My pictures are snappies of my photographs , therefore poor quality, but I still want to preserve them. Oh well, we will just have to go back to Brugge some day.

My husband, son and I were just talking about how much we'd like to return to Brugge! It must have been even more beautiful in 1995, although it was obviously wildly popular even then!

(BRUGGE) Jun 03, 2011
