It's a London Hilton Alright Mar 06, 2017
OK, it says Hilton on the outside and the staff at the reception desk lets you know this is a Hilton Hotel. Then you head for the lifts and into the bowls of 2 hotels, literally fused together. 2 old hotels. Crazy stairs leading half up and half down between the 2 buildings. Old and tired corridors lead onto your tiny, narrow room. The walls are of course paper thin because thin walls mean more rooms. My room looked identical to many ‘remodelled’ hotels I stay at in London – at almost half the price. I was put here by the company and even our corporate rate was $200. So more about the room. The bed was ok, I had a complex TV (why do they make these?), desk, chair you can’t use as the room is so small and the neighbour’s TV on the other side. He did turn it down after asking. Then you have the minibar and snacks from hell. The minibar has compartments and it’s electronically monitored. The chance of you stuffing some beers from the corner shop in there is zero. They have nits, other snacks and bottled water – all as a high price. The room does have a few good points. An iron with a very long cord, ironing board, telephones (2), hairdryer, and an alarm clock. Most importantly – they have a tea and coffee tray with some nice shortbread biscuits (cookies). The bathroom was good with a bath and shower and reasonable amount of towels. The toiletries were the normal Hilton brand and are quite good. That’s about it for the room. The hotel itself is a strange ramble of stairs and corridors. The bar is massive and lead onto the restaurant. Breakfast – except for one thing – is a fantastic buffet. Great meats, eggs, juices, breads and coffee. I think. I never saw the coffee I ordered. The other thing was the bacon on offer was of poor quality. Lots of fat and very little meat. That’s not good English bacon. The 2 types of sausage (one seemed to be chicken) were excellent. So all in all, good staff, quiet enough to sleep and a little odd. The location is both good and bad. Its right on one end of High Street Kensington, but a 10 minute walk to 2 of the main Tube Stations.

Unique Qualities:

* Ecellent breakfast buffet with poor service still waiting on my coffee * Excellent reception staff * Good toiletries

It's a trial! Jun 10, 2011
The Hilton Olympia is just like any other Hilton Hotel with this particular one it is the location that determines whether you will stay here or not. The main thing to bear in mind is that it is cheaper than the majority of other Hiltons in central London.

The location is favourable for the Olympia horse show as the stadium is next door, but that happens only once a year I think!! The hotel is slightly off the main area where the usual tourist hotels are though there are two close underground stations. Kensington Olympia underground station is a 5 minute walk maximum and the Earls Court underground is around 15-20 minute walk. Some people may find the walk from Earls Court station intimidating if you do this late at night when it is dark. The other issue is Kensington Olympia station isn't served by all district line trains and closes fairly early some days.

Because the hotel is central it is quieter in the rooms than in other hotels in London.

The hotel can be recommended as itself is really nice, it is the location that lets it down. If you look around the internet you will find similarly priced hotels that are more central.
