Not bad for an airport hotel Mar 31, 2009
Usually I shy away from staying at an airport hotel, but in this case it made it convenient for coming in late (no need to pick up rental car until next morning and then it's right there) and then for flying out really early on my last day. The biggest thing I fear at an airport hotel is the noise, but I don't remember hearing planes at all. They must have pretty good soundproofing. The other drawback for an airport hotel is that they are removed from all of the action. While this is true at this airport, it is so easy to get in and out without being part of airport traffic and access to major Austin highways is so close that this was not a problem. I was also there at the same time as South by Southwest, so the rate at the airport was far cheaper than downtown hotels.
There is a full height open atrium in the middle of the hotel where the bar and dining areas are located. There is also an outdoor heated pool. Parking was for a daily fee, but was abundant and easy. The hotel has a free airport shuttle, so it was very easy to get to and from the airport for flights or for renting a car. |
