Hilton Head Island Vacation Guide
Hilton Head Island is the second largest island on the east coast. The island is divided into privately gated plantations with homes, condos, etc.) Some have hotels, rental and timeshare of homes and private residences .We have over 300 restaurants on the island which is only 12 miles long and 5 miles wide. The beautiful beach is public, but there are only a few public access points and parking lots to get to it.(The 2nd traffic circle (Pope Ave.)has a public lot across from The Holiday Inn. There is another public access to the beach on Folly Field Rd.with free parking and restrooms. The island has about 35 golf courses, hundreds of clay tennis courts, a public skateboard park, horseback riding, numerous marinas with rentable boats, jet skis and parasailing) and shopping for everyone. Off-island is rapidly expanding toward I-95 with thousands of new homes, proposed shopping centers and a huge new mall near Sun City. It's a beautiful place to live... or just visit.
