Nice Hotel, Friendly Staff in Central Philadelphia May 01, 2015
The Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Philadelphia is centrally located within walking distance of the convention center, historic sites (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall) and adjacent to the Reading Market Terminal - a food lovers paradise.

The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. My room was spacious with a very comfy bed and pillows. The hotel offered free Wi-Fi and a decent size bathroom.

Parking is steep at $36.00 a day. I was in Philadelphia for work and had to have a vehicle. But if I were visiting Philly on my own I would forgo the car. The front desk gave us a key card for entry and exit to the garage.

The area directly around the hotel has seen better days but there are a lot of restaurants and shops in walking distance and I never felt in danger. I walked to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall one morning and it was a ten-minute walk.

The hotel has a restaurant on that tenth that offers a great breakfast buffet and at night is a bar and restaurant. I was in a hurry and only needed food to go, the staff worked with me and did not charge me the buffet rate ($14).

The single best feature of the Garden Inn is the Wawa convenience store located directly across the street. Wawa has the most amazing coffee I've ever had at a convenience store ever! You need to check out their soft pretzels too. I am very sad Wawa's do not exist outside of the East Coast.

I was only in town briefly for a TV shoot but would love to return to properly sight see. I would definitely stay at The Hilton Garden Inn on my return.

Centally Located Hiton Garden Inn Dec 04, 2010
We found the Hilton Garden Inn has almost an ideal location for visitors to Philadelphia. It's in the center of downtown, with Reading Terminal market on one side, Chinatown on the other and the convention center across the street. Independence National Historical Park is only a short subway ride away.

The hotel is an older property, but has been renovated. Guest rooms occupy the 7th to 10th floors and extend out over 11th Street. We had a one King bed room which was very comfortable, if smallish. Amenities include a desk, TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and hair dryer. (The coffee maker is handy as there is no free coffee in the lobby in the morning.)

The hotel's restaurant is the 10th Floor Grill. We had breakfast there on Sunday morning. The dining room's panoramic view is very nice. The Full Breakfast is a set charge of $13.95, which includes a cooked-to-order omelet (or pancakes or waffle), home fries, and bacon or sausage. Coffee/tea, juice, fruit, breads and pastries are also available. For dinner, Chinatown offers an array of Asian restaurants to try.

The Business Center has three Internet workstations and free printing. Wired or WiFi Internet is available in the guest rooms.

The hotel is easy to reach from the airport or 30th Street Station via SEPTA trains. The Market East station is just down the block. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel, but it is expensive. (As is all parking in Philadelphia.) Be sure to get an in-and-out pass from the front desk if you will be using your car around town.

Good location. Aug 21, 2010
Great location for this hotel right at the Convention Center. My room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel. It sounded like it might be something like $30 a night to park there, but that didn't impact me at all since I wasn't driving.

It is a block away from the Market East train station. This station has one of the subway lines running through it, as well as at least one commuter rail line. I used this station to take the train to and from the airport.

This hotel is located about halfway between City Hall and the Independence Hall/Liberty Bell area, and both attractions are easily walkable.

The only problem I ran into at this hotel was an incident with the hotel's fire alarm, but the letter I received with my bill apologized for it as they said some sprinkler malfunction occurred at a neighboring building.
