Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Magnificent Mile Chicago

Found a good deal for this hotel, and decided to stay here on a business trip. The hotel was a bit contradictory - very elegant, but definitely showing its age. Everything seemed a bit worn and musty, as if the glitter had faded off a few years ago.

Had some problems with the original room that we booked. We asked for non-smoking, but when we arrived at the room it smelled like someone had been smoking in there not more than 15 minutes ago. When we went down to the front desk to request a non-smoking room, they told us that the one they had assigned to us WAS non-smoking. Fortunately, they gave us another room. But, was definitely a bit worried when entering the new room. Fortunately, it was fine, and bigger and more well lit than its smoky predecessor.

Bed was large and comfortable. Shower and bathroom were a bit old and worn, and the water pressure in the shower was less than amazing, but it worked.

Overall, not a bad stay, but to be honest expected more out of a Hilton.

Stayed at this hotel twice on both my trips.
First time with a kingsize bed. Had to request for towels to be changed since they were folded but dirty.

Second time, requested a kingsize bed and ended up with 2 single beds and two bathrooms. Was clean this time. Did not appreciate the bed mix up with a month advance notice for reservation of three nights and got only one night and found out at the desk checking in.

Plus reservation was at a certain rate and bill was given under the door with a higher rate. Almost 45 min to get that corrected, Manager acted like she did a favour honoring original rate given.
Sadly found out there were 12 other rooms with the same situation in the lobby and manager gave no appology or compensation to anyone.
