Hilton City Hotel Leeds

I got a very good deal in the Hilton, on lastminute.com, and I am glad I did - I think that it was very good value for the £50 I paid, but would have been terrible value for the full price.

The bedroom is decorated in exactly the same way as every other hotel bedroom in a recently refurbished hotel, and is perfectly pleasant. The bed was slightly soft and the pillows slightly hard, but I may be being fussy. The soundproofing was awful. The bathroom was very nice, and the free toiletries were Crabtree and Evelyn.

The hotel allows you free use of the Living Well gym attached to the complex, whihc means you get a decent gym including a steam room, sauna, and a really nice pool. That is a major advantage.

The restaurant and bar are horribly overpriced, and the satay I had was bland to the point of inedible. Not a good deal at all, and only bearable for drinks prices if you are on expenses. I was not.

The service was great, and the staff are lovely.

In summary, only stay here if a) you get a lot of money off or b) someone else is paying for your drinks.
