Great location and a great experience... Aug 20, 2009
Popped into Edinburgh for a couple of days in February and decided to try out the Travbuddy engine to see what it could offer.
For approx. €110 a night, it offered this, which I was certain was a four star at the time but seems to be listed as a five star now. In any case, this is right in the centre of Edinburgh and very close to the main attractions such as the Castle. The Hotel might be a little old and distressed looking in places but everything is of a very good quality, the staff were excellent and indeed I got bumped up, reputedly to a suite when I arrived. Now perhaps the standard rooms aren't as good as what I enjoyed but overall, the hotel made a good impression. For the price, including breakfast which was excellent, you couldn't go far wrong in Edinburgh with this. |

City Hotel Apr 22, 2009
if you are a single person and need some safety, then this is not a hotel to stay in. Its not safe at all and it looks and appears like a 1 hour hotel. If you dont care about mold and mildew then you might want to pay the overpriced charges for a hotel in the middle of the city.

Hilton Caledonian Edinburgh Oct 16, 2009
This 5 star Hilton is the nicest Hilton I've stayed at in the UK, and I've been to ALOT of them. Conveniently plotted on princess st, the hotel used to be an old train station. The Decor and architecture is amazing and the massively tall ceilings in majority of the rooms makes you feel very short. even the hallways are large enough to drive a London city bus through. If you are lucky enough, or rich enough to take one of the premium deluxe rooms, you'll get a great view of the Edinburgh castle out the window. There are 2 restaurants and 2 lounges in the hotel. A 'casual' and another fine dinning restaurant gives agreat selection of fine cuisine by the amazing executive chef. The fine dining area is a fantastic room to be in. Their whisky lounge offers what seems to be every single whiskey known to human kind. The other bar is an American themed pub. Caledonian also offers a selection of different meeting spaces, however if you ever get the opportunity too book the Versailles room, do it. Only downside to it is that you probably wont get much meeting done from staring at the amazing mural all over the walls. One last thing is the showers have this weird half glass door that allowed me to splash water all over the place while i showered...
