The Hilton Amsterdam is famous for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 "bed-in for peace".
This is not the type of hotel I usually stay at or can afford but I had won this stay here in a competition.
The location is not that excellent, in the outskirts of the city and rather far from the center. The tram nearby can take you in about 10 minutes to the center (Dam Square) or it's about 30 minutes' walk.
Check in at reception didn't go all that smooth but it could be due to my free stay...
The room was a lovely spacious corner room / junior suite and I was welcomed warmly with a complimentary bottle of wine. The room had a huge king size bed, a sofa, and a spacious bathroom with bathrobe and slipper and lots of amenities.
The buffet breakfast in the morning was quite crowded but the sellection was amazing and delicous with a very wide variety of choices and the typical Hilton recommandations.
I surely enjoyed my stay in this luxury hotel but would not splurge the money for it myself.
