Good airport hotel May 30, 2015
There really is only one reason you consider picking a hotel in Schiphol - you have a late plane arriving in Amsterdam or leaving early on a plane. During our visit we actually combined those two options for arrival and departure so a hotel next to the airport seemed like a good idea so we didn’t have to catch a terribly early train to reach the airport in the morning.

There are several different hotels in the airport and we stayed at the Hilton Airport hotel - it is a bit further away from the terminals than the other hotels - but if you know how to get there it isn’t too difficult to reach it and you can walk indoor the entire way from the airport and to the new addition to the hotel which wasn’t open yet when we stayed there but it should be finish later this year or early 2016. You can reach the hotel by go to the second floor of the arrival hall and then follow the signs going straight on the moving foot walk from this spot all the way to the hotel. If you are lazy or have unreasonable large luggage you can wait for the shuttle to take you to or from the hotel - there is supposedly a shuttle every half hour but we couldn’t be bother to wait for the shuttle and instead just walked - it might even be faster walking in case of traffic on the roads nearby the airport.

We get a room on the fifth floor and we got a view to a busy road just down below. Despite the traffic below and the planes landing nearby the room is surprisingly quite and we can hardly hear any noise from below at all so it is possible to get a good night’s sleep at the hotel.

The hotel room is pretty spacious and it is equipped with pretty much what you expect for a decent airport hotel. There are the standard flat screen television and a couple of chairs in addition to a good bed and a bathroom which has all you expect of a good hotel as well.

Down in the lobby area you got lots of space with a restaurant and a bar which serves both drinks and some more simple food than you will find in a more standard restaurant. Though the plates seems to be a bit too big to actually place them on the relatively small tables in the bar. The food is decent and you can see there is a bit of a connection to the colonial history of the Netherlands since there are several dishes from Indonesia on the menu and the head chef is actually from Indonesia as well which gives an explanation for the interest in Indonesian dishes.

The breakfast is good as well - there is a big buffet breakfast which will fill you up and ensure you get a good start to the day. There are the usual eggs, bacon and bread and some fruits. If you have a bit of extra time you should take advantage of the hot food station where they will cook you omelet or waffles. The waffles were very good especially on the first day - the second day didn’t taste quite the same since they had changed the cook from the first morning to the second morning.

Wonderful breakfast and quite room Jun 05, 2015
We choose this hotel due of it is closeness to airport since we arrived late at night and depart early in the morning, and it is within walking distant to airport without the need of transportation, even though the hotel provide free shuttle service. It takes around five to eight minutes walk from the arrival hall through the inter connecting buildings and carpark to the hotel with a clear sign showing the way. We actually do not have to go out to the main street. I guess it is faster to walk than take the hotel shuttle since we do not try the free shuttle service.

We stayed three nights in total at this place.

The check in was easy and painless as the booking was ready. The reception was okay, does not talk much, but very efficient in his work.

The lobby was big with plenty of chairs for guests to sit and check internet since internet only free in the lobby area and has to pay extra in the room.

The building itself showing it is age and less grand than other Hilton hotel in different countries. It appears they built a new hotel next door and the area was cordon off because of the construction.

Our room located at fifth floor and it was spacious with view toward the airport. Surprisingly it was very quiet inside the room and we could not hear any car or flight engine inside the room.

The room has all the necessity in usual four stars hotel, from the toiletries, ironing board to two hairdryers. Love the towel which was huge and heavy. Unfortunately the air condition is not working properly even it has adjusted temperature. I woke up a couple of times at night time as it was too hot in the room with duvet, however felt a bit cold without duvet.

On the first night after check in, we tried their bar restaurant for midnight snack. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The food was delicious and it was cheap for hotel price.

I love the buffet breakfast… it was plentiful, many choices from French pastries, fruits, yogurt, readily available omelette, bacon, and we can order the eggs, waffles and pancake separately from the hot station with the cook readily accept the order. I was crazy with the strawberries and probably I ate the whole bowl of strawberries each morning while stayed there. Not many people during breakfast time so we have a nice and relaxing time at the restaurant enjoying our meal.

When we have to leave early to catch our flight, the hotel provide package breakfast as a substitute which consist of yogurt, cheese sandwich, ham sandwich, banana, apple and water bottle.

When we asked for the internet password, the hotel join me on their club and I get the internet freely in the room during the entire stay.

It cost €115 + tax per night with breakfast for two people – booked five month earlier through hotels.com.
