We have been stolen at our room in the Hillside inn.
It was horrible. All our pesos. I was while we were having diner. They came into the room and empty the bags. The lockers that give us were a trick. They could be opened with pulling with your fingers once they were closed. A nightmare.

The inn's set up is very simple. Rooms upstairs, kitchen and dining area downstairs, with the common toilet outside. The facilities are very basic. Well, it IS up in the mountains so none of the luxuries found in 5-star hotels. Costs P150 to stay overnight. At night it gets quite cold, so remember to close the window before going to bed.

The food was pretty good, they have their own version of pizza, pita wraps, and the usual dishes like tinola, adobo, curry, friend chicken, vegetables. The food is prepared after you order, so it takes a while for it to arrive specially for a group of say, 6 people. While waiting we just talked about things we did and planned on doing, and enjoyed the view of terraces and mountains before us. The food and drinks in Batad are generally more expensive than in the town proper, though. Average meal here would cost around P100-P150.

Plus points go to Maya, for helping us when we were in Manila and Ate Gladys, the keeper/cook of the inn. I'm sure we were quite a demanding group, with a million questions and requests, but she helped us in any way she could :P

Hi azzurri, you're truly right about the Hillside Inn. I stayed there with my friends for 2 nights and it was great. The food was great. Check out their Malawach with tomatoes and cheese. Thank you to Gladys who cooked our food well and to the owner Mirza who shared to us many things about Batad culture. They are very nice and sympathetique people.
Too bad we did not make it to the waterfalls because our legs were painful. We hiked from Kinakin to Canbulo to Batad. Long walking for 6 hours. We will go back soon and go to waterfalls. Gladys gave us a relaxing massage for only P350. If you like to reserve rooms at the Hillside Inn, Gladys gave me the mobile # of Mirza's daughter (Maya). +62 919 379 9599 or +63 905 769 9796
