Hiking Trail "Stolzekleiven-Sandvikspilen-Mount Fløyen" Reviews

A trip I recomend for both Tourists as well as Locals is the hike Stoltzekleiven. The Trip stars with Stolzekleiven and continues on gravel roads. So its suitable for everyone, regardless of physical shape and clothing, as long as you stay away from high heels. I know a Greek girl that did the hike in a fur coat! The first part of the trip , can however be very steep , so just take your time.
If you want a easier start you can walk from "Munkebotten" and pass by "Sandviksbatteriet (Sandviks gun battery) which is a part of Bergen Fortress. The trip starts from fjellveien, From the city centre its the road that goes behind the Lower Terminal of the Fløyen Funicular. Just walk the the left and continue down the road for around 30mins time. The hike will give you a great view over some old parts of Bergen as well as the ships in the harbour. When you see the Stolzekleiven sign , which again leads to a gate you are there. Stoltzekleiven is is 801 steps (more or less, experts disagree) which will take you up to 399meters. The starting altitude around 100meter (im guessing from a large scale map i have) so the elevation is 300meters. I did the stolzekleiven in around in 15minutes. Which I think is really good, but for athletes its horrible. When you reach to wooden plateau you just walk straight (after your much deserved rest) then follow the trail until you get to a small lake. On your right hand side you will see signs to the nearby mountains. The best best and shortest route is the route towards Mount fløyen.. You will pass lush terrain, scenic lakes and will end up at Mount Fløyen to experience a very nice view over Bergen. The pictures ive taken is from the hike from Sandvikspilen (Mount Sandviksfjellet) to Mount fløyen. The first part is a scenic and beautiful walk, while the second part seems is a small gravel roads that goes through lush forests. If you want a longer walk there are several other hiking trail in the area: After a while you are standing with a cross sections. You can either continue down to mount Fløyen and take the train down. Or you can take a detour to visit "Mount Rundemannen" or "Mount Blåmannen" All the trails are gravel roads except the hike down "Skredderdalen" that leads down to "fjellveien" Happy trip :) Part of the My hometown : Bergen travel blog |
