This is one of the hidden gems of LA. It's a little out of the
way but well worth it for anyone wanting to get away and bond with nature. The hike leaves from the Circle X trailhead on the border of LA and Ventura Counties. The trail descends from the road about 2 miles to a beautiful grotto with a little waterfall that feeds into a crystal clear pool and a cave. The girl I went with kept likening it to the Pirates of the Caribean ride. It's pretty amazing that this place has slipped under my radar for so long.
