Heusden Vacation Guide

The history of the town Heusden is a long one. The first castle "Onsenoort" dates from the late 13th century.
The town evolved and became a fortress in the Middle Ages, complete with moats and ramparts.
Although the historical buildings inside the town have never been demolished and are still in a fantastic shape, especially the farms Fellenoord and Pestert are of historical value. The ramparts were removed, but they have later on been restored. Seen from the air the town looks impressive, a star shaped stronghold.
With the cobblestone streets (when you think away the tourists and the few cars that are about) it almost feels like time has stood still here.
Great to visit on a sunny day.
It is possible to stay overnight in the town, there are some hotels, another option is to go to a campsite on one of the farms in the outskirts of the village.
Centre of the town is the Fish Market.
