Hengsheng Peninsula International Hotel Shanghai Travel Reviews

Mar 09, 2007
In planning my trip to Shanghai I always have a partner in Hotels.com or octopustravel.com, both these pages have helped me finding accommodation at fair rates. I surfed around and found the prices in Shanghai higher than in Beijing. I chose Hengsheng Peninsula International Hotel because it was situated very close to The Bund - and the price was fair for a Deluxe-suite appr. 55€ a night and I did not regret that.

The hotel had seen its best days - I would say that it was on it´s way down. Overall it still was an ok hotel - but the cleaning could have been better - especially at the pool area. Afterwards I kind of regretted that I used it - my ear was irritated for a week. The room was ok - and the bathroom as well.

In the hotel there were a couple of restaurants, we tried one of them it was just over average. The hotel have one side with view over The Bund - take it if you are gonna hang out in the window. We didn´t - we went to The Bund in stead:D - No today I would have taken the view, it would have been nice looking at the Pudong skyline before jumping to bed and the price was not much more.

The hotel was not known that well by cab drivers - so remember to take a hotel card in the hall to show the drivers when you wanna go home to the hotel.
This pool was not really clean

mfmcp1982 says: This is not a hostel in the strictest sense of the name. It used to be a grand hotel - Charlie Chaplin and Einstein stayed here - and it still is, but it seems like the staff rooms or larger rooms have been converted into dorms. I chose to stay in a 5 bed girls only room because I was on my own, but...

And about a bock from the river. We stayed on the second floor which was the executive floor. The room was modern. very clean, and had this...
