Henderson's
Henderson's Reviews
Hendersons Oct 05, 2008
Henderson's is a well established vegetarian restaurant in the New Town of Edinburgh. Priding itself on being "slow food" - that is, properly prepared, made of actual ingredients, and nicely served - this is not a good place to come if you are in a hurry. But if you are looking for a leisurely lunch this is the place.
There is a good range of non alcpholic drinks and a nice wine list. The food at lunch time is biased towards wraps, veggie pates, and soups. I had some excellent vegetarian haggis (it has oats and kidney beans in, and tastes nothiung like real haggis. But it's nice and there are no innards to scare the English. Of course, I really like real haggis, but that's a different story). I think most of the produce is soourced in the countryside surrounding Edinburgh. The ambience is lovely, although if you were wheelchair bound you'd maybe struggle to access the toilets fromteh bit we were in. The staff were friendly, if potentially a little too laid back if you were in a rush. We weren't. The latte, unusually for the UK, turns up looking all pretty and stripy.
