Fantastic!! Apr 23, 2009
This place is in such a perfect location. Literally 2mins down the road there's the island of museums, loads of really good places to eat and drink. Where the hostel is, is a club right underneath/beside it. So if you don't mind loud music only on Friday and Saturday nights, then you'll be OK. I stayed in the 10 person dorm, which i can't complain about there was nothing wrong with it. Breakfast wasn't free but it was only 3 euros, all you can eat, 9am 'till 12pm. So if you wanted a lie-in, it wouldn't be a problem.

5 super night at Helter Skelter Hostel Mar 12, 2008
Helter hostel was super compared to all other hostels we tried.

The quality of the hostel was perfectly fine. The morning breakfast at 3 Euros was amazing especially for that price and finally the bathrooms and toilets were very well maintained and clean.

The price was something around +/-20 Euros/night which for the Berlinale period (early February 2008) was very good. All other hostel increased their prices due to the high demand but they kept it low.

The location is perfect.

By the way the duvey looks thin for winter but the heating is very good so teh temperature is fine.

Anyway I recommend staying at the hostel but do always check the other ones via wikitravel.

All in all this hostel wasn't that bad and I didn't mind it. It was located on some "secret" street that wasn't on the map but luckily we ran into some girls who pointed us in the right direction. If you know where it is it's fairly easy to find. Just take the S-bahn for a couple stops from the train station and then it is fairly close to the stop that you get off at. The name of the hostel is kind of sketchy and the palce is a little sketchy but not too bad. Bathrooms were pretty clean and the showers were decent (I don't remember ever having a problem). I think we were staying in the biggest dorm they have which is a 13 bed dorm. Their was a mix of bunk beds and single beds as well as lockers to lock up your belongings (although some of them were broken) GIANT pillows are provided and they are sooo comfy! As well as sheets and a blanket, as well the beds were rather comfy. I don't remember how much we paid but I am sure it was pretty average. There is an all you can eat breakfast buffet in the morning for only 3 euros which was a pretty good deal. There is internet located in the common area but its very expensive. There is also a kitchen with pots and pans etc to cook your own food. Fridge was a little crowded so make sure to label your stuff. At night there is a club right under/beside the hostel and its across from a theatre. Only a 5 minute walk to Oranienburger Strasse which has many bars, restaurants, and clubs and provides great fun. As well not too long of a walk to the reichstag, brandenburg gate, and hollocaust memorial etc. I think there is some better hostels in Berlin but if they are all booked, I would recommend this place no doubt!

It's located on a street that apparently is in no map books. But its actually not that hard to find. Its really close to Oranienburgerstrasse(I think thats what its called), the street with a lot of really good restaurants and clubs). Its kind of sketchy, the name of it should have been our first clue to that..But we had a 13 bed dorm and it was huge. We didn't have to sleep in bunk beds either, and the beds were really comfortable. There was a kitchen and a common area with a pool table. They were also renovating when we were there. There was internet access as well. It is also within walking distance to most major sights. There is a club right next to it as well, but we never went in to it. The staff were a little rude. We had no major problems with it though. But I would say only stay here if the really good hostels are booked up..
