Helt Rått Stavanger Reviews
Nice sushi - cool bar Jul 14, 2010
Helt Rått is located in the "restaurant street" one block from the quay in the center of Stavanger. The name "Helt Rått" literally means "totally raw" which matches their food - sushi. The expression "Helt Rått" on the other hand means "so cool".
Helt Rått is a bar serving sushi. A conveyor belt marches around the bar until the kitchen closes at 10 pm. When the chef goes home the DJ shows up and the place turns into a cool music bar.
If you are not into raw fish, you can get a variety of wok as well. We went there for the sushi and it was good. Plates with two pieces of sushi come parading by you on the conveyor belt and you just pick what you find tempting. The price vary depending on what kind of delicacy you are choosing. The price is reflected in the colour code on the plates ($4-$10). When you are finished you show the bartender your stack of plates, he then calculates your damage and then gives you the bill.
The bartender by the way was really nice and service minded. When we arrived it was quiet so we had a nice chat with him. It picked up quickly and by the time we left the place was full.
The bar was decorated in pastel colours, nothing I had expected in a sushi bar , but it looked good. The atmosphere was good as well. I have not been there late at night, so I can´t say anything about it, but I´ve heard that the place is packed during the weekends.
