Helsingborg is known as the gateway to the continent with ferries 24/7 to Helsingoer in Denmark, just 4 kilometers off the Swedish coast.

Helsingborg is first mentioned in the year 1085 but is supposed to have been founded over a hundred years earlier. Since the Danish city Helsingoer (Hamlet's Elsinore) was founded the ties between the two cities have been very close.

Today it has almost 125.000 inhabitants. It has a bustling shopping district and the shopping centre Väla just outside the city is a popular destination for shopping. The city also has good facilities for different sports as well as a theater, a concert hall, several galleries and museums. The city also has a great selecltion of hotels and restaurants to suit all tastes and wallets.
