Helmand
Helmand Reviews
May 07, 2006
One of the best dining experiences in Baltimore, Helmand serves Afghan food right in the heart of Mount Vernon. I can't speak for whether it's authentic Afghani (although word on the street is it's owned by Hamid Karzai's Brother/Cousing/something like that) and here at Hopkins there are loads of people going back and forth to Kabul and it seems to be very popular with the international health crowd.
The dishes are substantial, reasonably priced (teens), and very flavorful. Lots of braised/stewed dishes with loads of spices without being hot. It's well worth a trip, and a nice place to take a date or your parents. Part of the Baltimore travel blog |
