Fantastic for a sunny day Oct 03, 2012
There is not only the castle and palace, there are also the "water games" a big zoo - with typical austrian animals like goats but also with a new africa part and a park where people come together - during the summer time, they offer specials like yoga in the park. A lot of people every age spend their time there with picnics, games, just relaxing.

There is also a playground for the little ones. You can also buy some food and drinks there, but I recommand to bring your own picnic stuff because drinks and food is really expensive there.

Hellbrunn Chateau, Park and Wasserspiele May 30, 2008
This pretty baroque chateau has a huge park attached and of course the famous wasserspiele, a row of baroque trick fountains. The Wasserspiele are fun and nice pre-TV entertainment. I personally found them a bit expensive (9,50 EUR for adults and reduction for students, kids and groups), but there is a combination-ticket with the zoo, the wasserspiele and the chateau. (Still 17 EUR.)

Still you can visit the Gardens for free, which are extremely pretty, with floral trees and ponds. I also recommend walking up the hills behind the church, to see the "Felsentheater", a theatre carved into rocks and nice scenery.

I would say this is for people who need a bit of a timeout from city-hopping.
