Havelock Island is the most popular beach destination in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This secluded island is just 57 km away from the capital Port Blair and has some of the most amazing white sandy beaches with clear blue water in this territory. There are only 5-6 thousands locals live in the island and most of the tourists visit the island for a day trip from Port Blair. It is recommended to stay overnight in this island if somebody wants to explore several beaches and go for diving and snorkeling. The most famous beach in this island is Radhanagar Beach.
There are several small ships sail daily from Port Blair to Havelock. The fare is cheaper when local transportation is used. One can take luxury catamaran named M. V. Makruzz which takes less time than the regular ships. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants around the popular beaches for the tourists and Indian Government highly encourages the development of eco-tourism in this Island. At the port people can transport to the beaches by auto-rickshaw, rented bicycle, taxi, public bus etc.
