Haveli Hotel Suraj Jaisalmer Reviews
Nice haveli in Jaisalmer Jul 31, 2011
I've been to jaisalmer in 2007 and Hotel Suraj is still open now. Obviously prices have changed a lot because Jaisalmer is one of the most important tourist destinations of India and therefore prices tend to rise very much.
Today a room at Suraj hotel costs around 40USD.
The old town of Jaisalmer is completely enclosed within the ancient walls, so most of the buildings are made of stone.
Many of these hotels in Jaisalmer are called Haveli which is the term used for a traditional private mansion in this area of India and Pakistan.
Hotel Suraj is a 500 year's old Haveli and it is very nice but not so comfortable. The rooms are very basic and the bathroom is often little and not very clean. Not always there is hot water.
At the rooftop there's a restaurant which serve fresh food at any time. Food is good and the night view on jaisalmer is great.
Today in Jaisalmer there are lots of havelis so maybe there is a better value place than this. Anyway if you go to Jaisalmer try the Havely experience!
