After a relatively idle morning the Cuban season of the Golden Girls finished as I said my goodbyes to my three companions when their taxi (driven by a friend of the people from our casa) came to take them to the airport. Though by this p…

havana is amazing! the people are happy, mellow, very friendly. between the many bars with live salsa music, mohitos and cigars, the beautiful old american cars, the 50-year celebrations of castro's revolution(!) with cuban flags everywhere, havana leaves its mark. many beautiful, old, most falling apart, aristocratic buildings. it's like traveling in the past! great party at the clubs all night! also visited the beach of varadero. nice warm weather!

Tropicana is THE cabaret show in Havana. It's not exactly cheap; we paid 90 Cuban convertibles (US$90) each for a front row table., including dinner. You get a free half bottle of rum as well. It was an excellent evening out, though. Well worth doing if you're in Havana.

This is a great show, at a club in a fabulous setting. An open-air venue built at a farm on the outskirts of Havana. The stage and auditorium are surrounded by trees. The lighting is fantastic, the huge orchestra is outstanding and the show itself is unforgettable. Wonderful dancers and singers…

By taxi back to Havana, a more interesting journey avoiding the autopista and along the north coast, badly affected by the summer hurricanes. Lots of houses were still under repair.

Well, I think it's time for a blog to the city where I grew up, but the problem is that I don't have good photos of Havana so I had to go to Google and select some. Maybe the reason for this is that I haven't been there in the past 9 years so I have no digital photos of my city.
Havana, founded in 1519 with the name of San Cristobal de La Habana has a rich influence of european and colonial architecture. Habana Vieja, Vedado, Miramar, are maybe the best of this lovely city.

Cuba was great! It was pretty much one big party when we were at the resort, but then when in Havana, it's very historical, and some more partying. I had heard before I had left that the food isn't good in Cuba, but at the resort I was at (Tryp Peninsula) the food was really good. The beaches are awesome in Varadero, and the people are pretty friendly. Over all a great time.
