Aqua Terra Zoo Oct 04, 2017
The 47 meter tall concrete tower was originaly a fire control flak tower built between October 1943 and July 1944. It operated as a single combat unit with two other flak towers built in the Augarten and in the Arenberg Park.

After the war there was first a hotel, then a youth hostel. From 1957 a first quite small aquarium, now there is a 300000 liter tank with about 19°C (Atlantic) and a tunnel to walk through and a 150000 liter tank with about 27°C (Tropical), and several smaller ones.

Open every day from 9 am to 6 pm, Thursday until 9 pm.

Entrance fee € 17,60.

Aqua Zoo with Observation Deck Nov 03, 2014
Haus Des Meeres Aqua Zoo is a 15 minute train ride from the center of Vienna.

I went here on my first day in Vienna as it was an easy place to get to and didn't really involve me doing much except looking at sea life and taking pictures.

The place was fun but slightly overdone. The best parts were Observation Deck which gave great views of Vienna and the monkey room you can walk through and touch the little monkeys. Trying to get a clear photo of them is hard though :(

I'd recommend this place but don't go out of your way. It won't set your world on fire but won't dampen it either.

Pretty cool Aquarium May 29, 2011
Haus de Meeres is a really cool aquarium in Vienna. It is 8 floors of all sorts of sea creatures, monkeys, birds, crocodiles and many other types of animals.

I went there on a trip with the kindergarten I work with and I found it as interesting and amusing as the kids did. There is a rainforest section with exotic birds and tortoises and bats and stuff and theres a crocodile park which has not only crocodiles but also monkeys running freely around!

As you are walking around Haus des Meeres you may notice see though tubes running along the walls and ground and places, there are red ants walking through these tubes carrying food and leaves and twigs back to their nest, it is so interesteding to watch them all working as a team.

They have a wide variety of snakes and lizards, I loved this part of the aquarium because I am a big reptile fan!

On the top floor of the aquarium you can go outside and look over all of Vienna, it is such a beautiful sight, you can see praters famous ferris wheel and the danube tower!

All in all Haus des Meers is worth the visit for adults or kids :)
