Hau Mini Hotel Dec 16, 2010
The Hau is very typical of the mini hotels that line the narrow alleyway streets of Saigon's District 1. Owners and their families live on the ground floor and the upper floors each have several rooms that they rent out. The rooms are pretty basic and rather overpriced but that's true in any city. The place is suitable for transiting through Saigon.
Room 1 at the Hau cost $16 a night and they would not negotiate. It had twin beds, air conditioning, a large wardrobe, refrigerator, cable television, and a small desk. Secured wifi was accessible by requesting the password, though the connection was very slow. Its basic bathroom had a hot water shower/tub. The selling point for me was that it was located on the second floor and had a small balcony though I never used it. Also, its located just around the corner from the district's countless restaurants, bars, nightlife, and travel agencies.
