Hathaway House Sep 25, 2013
There was only one reason I booked this B&B – it was the easiest one to walk to from Bristol International Airport. You basically just go down to the roundabout leading out of the airport area to the main highway to Bristol – here you go all the way around the roundabout to catch the street to Bristol and then you pass a school and next house are the Hathway House. The street is School Lane 2 – named after the next door school. On the other side of the Hathway House you’ll find Forge Accommodation – which is slightly bigger than the Hathway House and got a big sign which is easier to spot. All in all it took around five minutes to walk from arrival to the B&B - it’s a pretty straightforward walk when you turn right when leaving the terminal building.

When we arrive we are met by a woman in the reception – this is one of the services they sort of have to provide – 24 hours check in. Otherwise you can’t really run an airport B&B. you have to accept the clients come at all sorts of times of the day. She gives us the key to the room – and explains there is no breakfast included in the room rate. But if we really hurry we can still catch a pint at the local pub next door. I guess this is part of the British tradition of going to the pub constantly - so they always assumes everybody else also wants to just go to the pub. We decline and say we are too tired and just want to go to bed.

We get the key to the room and walk up the stair. The room is pretty small and they managed to squeeze two beds in there – one double and a single. The single bed takes up the room where you could have places a chair and a desk so these items are absent from the room. All in all the room is tiny and there isn’t much space to put big luggage if you got it. There are a small table and a kettle for boiling water for coffee or tea and a small television.

The bathroom is sort of the same as the room – small and not that inviting – since the cleaner had forgotten about the toilet so we were met by a toilet full of paper. Fortunately it didn’t appear there was much solid down the toilet so the smell was insignificant. The door to the bathroom couldn’t close properly so it was constantly a bit open into the room.

Fortunately there wasn’t much noise from the planes during the night. It seemed like there isn’t much traffic going to or from the airport from around midnight till the next morning around 6. So the noise from the airport won’t be much of a nuisance.

The room seemed a bit overpriced at £50 considering the overall quality and the lack of the breakfast part of the B&B. Hence I would only recommend staying here if you got a late arrival or very early departure. I figure that is also the only reason any of the guest they have stay at this location since there really isn’t much in the neighborhood but the airport.
The room - a bit small
The toilet
The shower
The television and coffee maker

I agree with missandrea. By calling the a B&B they are a bit misleading. Bed and Breakfast is supposed to be just that. This more more like a hostel stay instead. It is nice that you have taken the time to review it.

Basic guesthouse near airport Sep 25, 2013
The bed and breakfast located near Bristol International airport and probably within five minutes walking distant from the airport which is easy to find especially with the map we get from the information centre in the airport. It is near the roundabout from the airport exit.

We choose to stay in this place, since we need to go back to the airport the next day to pick up the rental car (we do not want to get the car when we arrive in Bristol at night time as we do not want to pay one day extra for the rental car fee), so we decided to stay at this place which is less expensive compare with other hotel nearby.

There is a small room near front door (inside the house) which use as an office. A new arrival guest can ring a bell to go inside the house which luckily operate 24 hours check in which is very convenient. Unfortunately, not much facility at this place since it looks like an ordinary house converted into a guesthouse, so the rooms were quite tiny and not much space inside – no formal lounge or lobby at the front for guest, and not much information provided either.

After check in and paid in advanced, the reception gives the key to the room and mention that breakfast is not include in the price and no restaurant in the premises so we can not have any food at this place – which is quite weird since the place call “bed and breakfast”.

Our room located at the first floor of the house and it was quite small but they managed to put in one double bed and one single bed there. There is a small table and free tea and coffee in the room with a kettle to boil water. Unfortunately, not much space for the luggage or to move around, but for one night is okay, more than that probably too suffocated. I do not remember if this place have wifi or not, since I do not use it.

The bathroom is tiny and tired looking and just barely clean. So as usual, I need to clean the bathroom and toilet first before use it.

Next door from the guesthouse is a local pub which serve beer until nine or ten pm but we did not hear any noise from the room.

Surprisingly it was very quiet at nigh time even though the building was made from wood and old, so we have a good night sleep. We leave the key inside the room the next morning when we left the place early in the morning since we did not see anybody at the reception area and nobody come when we call for them.

It cost £50 per night for two people without breakfast which we thought quite expensive for this kind of establishment.

The only convenient of this place is if you have an early flight the next morning or if you arrive late at night time.
