Hatgal is a small village at the south tip of Lake Khovsgol and this is the start up point if you want to explore the surrounding around the lake. Hatgal has an airstrip and a small port, plus a school and a post/telecom office. You may want to buy some supply in advance although you will find shops that will sell the very basic grocery.

From here you can start a hike, horse trek or any other activity you may want to do. Just sit down, relaxing and fishing is one of the options.

Arriving to Hatgel (also spell "Khatgal") is simple - just go to the market in Maron and ask around for someone that go there, 9-10AM are the best time for doing so. You can also find a ride from the train station at Erdenet.

One's you arrive to Hatgel you can stay in one of the few very simple Guest Houses in the village, or in a ger camp (there are few around, just ask the driver to take to there).
Standing one level above all the others is "Garage 24 - Nature's Door". You will find it just at the north end of the village, under the hill. This is by far the best Guest House in Mongolia.
