Tasty Lebanese Cuisine in Quito - Hassan's Cafe Jul 16, 2009
This is a small Lebanese café, very popular, affordable and frequented by locals.
The restaurant is small, but very cozy. I read about it when I was in Lima and wanted to try it when I was in Quito. On the walls you can see the awards this place won and newspaper's articles about the owner: Hassan. They are international papers. When you are there, you will meet the owner who is also the chef. Hassan is a passionate cook who moved to Ecuador after running 2 very successful restaurants in California. He's always friendly and likes to talk to the customers, making you feel comfortable. The menu is about Lebanese food, so tasty. I got the special, which was really cheap. I had a falafel sandwich with freshly-baked pita bread, as well as salad (you can get rice instead) for $0.99. Hassan also gives to all the customers free dessert, a sweet-dough empanada, yummy! But besides this deal, they have fixed price meals for lunch and dinner. Also the dipping sauces are delicious! Don't worry about the menu, it's written also in English to make things even easier. If you like Lebanese food, I highly recommend this place: great food, great atmosphere, great service. Just go there! Part of the First time in Ecuador, but definitely not the last one :) travel blog |
