Hartford City Vacation Guide
Hartford City is the county seat of Blackford County in northeastern Indiana. Blackford County is the third smallest county in all of the state. The city saw a relatively boom in the early parts of the 1900s through the 1960s. After several factories closed down, the population dwindled.
The City's motto is "The One and Only." As of the 2000 Census, the population is almost 7000. Its most noticeable landmark is the courthouse in the town square. It is surrounded by several monuments dedicated to citizens who died in both World Wars, the Korean and Vietnamese Conflicts and the Civil War. Its main industry is agriculture.
The countryside outside of the city is quickly becoming a haven for many different forms of wildlife. Deers, foxes, bobcats, herons and geese were once rare sightings, but are now very commonplace.
