creole food in the heart of la Apr 22, 2008
i reviewed this place on citysearch before. but i went back recently. and the review is just as applicable then as it is now. plus, i have pictures.

this time, i had the catfish, which came in HUGE servings. it was deep fried and yummy! the clam chowder was properly creamy too.

below was my old review:

WOW! Large portions, great food!
5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

where do i begin? first off, the portions are HUGE! i ordered the grilled pork chops with rice and beans -- it came in TWO PLATES -- one for the 3 chops, and one overflowing with rice and beans. i thought the chops were done nicely and the beans were really, really yummy! someone else got the catfish dinner and it came with 10 or so pieces -- and again, it was really, really good. the shrimps, apparently, were also good. i had the peach cobbler for dessert and the ice cream was good; but, i thought the cobbler was a little bit over average. our server was also very nice, friendly, fast, helpful with questions and pleasant -- someone who has manners -- it makes me want to send all servers in los angeles to her for a crash course on what service should be. i would definitely go back!!!!

Pros: large portions, great service, yummy food

Cons: none

pork chops -- all three of them ...

Owens says: This is where I went to eat pupusas every week last year. I'd order a licuado of strawberry, or banana and wait for my two cheese pupusas with loroco (a plant found in el salvador that only adds to the taste) to be fried up on the burners in the back. Many might consider this place a "hole in the...
martinikitty13 says: This is one of my favorites korean bbq restaurants in LA (and I have to say that I think LA has the best korean bbq in the country in its korea town). It is also the most "westernized" in terms of decor and service (mainly in that they have servers and hostesses that speak english). :) It has got...
martinikitty13 says: This restaurant is located in the 99 Ranch Supermarket center in Rowland Heights. I don't want to buy into the stereotype that asians are bad drivers ... but here it's true, so be careful when you come. But come you should since the food is phenomenal (and you get to go grocery shopping at the chi...
