Harishchandragad Mumbai Reviews
Harishchandragad trekkers delight Aug 01, 2009
Difficulty Level - Medium.
This one of my best treks so far. Located in Ahmednagar region of Maharashtra. This is a very popular destination for both trekkers and nature lovers. I have visited this place twice as I wanted to experience the view and skill during the rains and summer. I enjoyed it better during the rains! Like most of the treks the start is easy but as you get closer to the destination it gets tougher. One has to be very careful during the rains at there is lot of moss formed on the rocks and gets very slippery. Well during the summer it’s a little easier. Some spots are covered with fog and make it even more difficult during the rains. Fortunate to say, we had a local guide assist us on this trek. An expert in this region and knows the best routes to the top. This place is also a home to some wild animals so have to be very careful although rarely seen by trekkers.
Visibility is low in some parts or as you get higher as there is heavy cover of cloud and fog. Once you get on top, there are ancient caves and temples which amaze you. Caves cut out of rock, engravings on the rocks, water reservoirs, and magnificent temples with breath taking views makes up for all the sweat. Wish I had a better camera and the rains subside to get a few more shots…
