Hargeysa Vacation Guide
Hargeysa, is actually in Somaliland, which is a breakaway state of the troubled Somalia. Once a British Colony, Somaliland has enjoyed 18 years of (unofficial) independence from her neighbour Somalia. As far as Somalilanders are concerned, they are running a country by themselves with out international support, rare in the fragile African continent. For all those concerned they are doing a pretty good job. Democracy, peace, and support on 'The War on Terror' tick all the right boxes for a right for independence and recognition from the international community.
Somaliand has a large costal area, with the Gulf of Aden seperating them from Yemen. Berberia, is the northly port, which could be a lot busier if the country ever got really going. All the same, you can find some excellent sea food. Which is unusual as Somalis rarely eat fish!
If you visit, you will find beautiful surroundings, excellent hotels, interesting and vocal people, and a very pleasant feel to this makeshift capital.
