Affordable Japanese cuisine Jul 12, 2012
The Hare and Tortoise has 5 restaurants within London (Ealing, Putney, Kensington, Bloomsbury and Blackfriars). The one that I go to is in Bloomsbury, Brunswick Centre, near Russell Square underground station. I'm not an expert in Japanese cuisine, so i'm not sure how "authentic" the food is, but I find that the portions are generous for the price paid. Most of the main courses are around £6-8, which I think is reasonable. The have sushi, ramen, noodle dishes, rice dishes, etc. The Bloomsbury restaurant tends to be very busy, and often there are queue's that run outside the restaurant doors during busy times, so sometimes its best to plan ahead. There are other restaurants in close proximity - which is always great! The portion and price keeps me going back for more.

Nice place to eat and nice atmosphere.I would describe their menu as a cross between Wagamama / Sushi / Oriental Asian.

"It does beat Wagamama in comfort, which has benches or makes you sit next to other people (if busy), this place has proper chairs and own tables! (though you are close enough to hear other people's coversations!)."

Overall a nice place for either lunch or dinner!
