Hard Rock Hotel Penang Batu Ferringhi Reviews
Luxury Rock Star Style Nov 19, 2011
Well what can I say? Its Hard Rock Hotel, even prior to booking I think one can foresee that it would have a certain standard to match the Hard Rock hotel chain.
Located at Batu Ferringhi, its the last hotel of the entire stretch of hotels at Batu Ferringhi so taxi drivers usually know how to find it. There is a bus stop outside the hotel with buses which can bring you to other areas in Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bungga, Telok Bahang or even Georgetown.
Upon arrival, we were first captivated by the entrance area ceiling deco - glittering lights of the word "Hard Rock Hotel". U get a welcome drink - juice/ coke. The entire hotel deco theme is of course associated with rock music, pictures of rock stars over the years, the memorabilias decorate almost everywhere you go. So if you are not a rock music fan dont even bother.
From the television in our hotel room, we can view whats going on at the Hard Rock Cafe - the live band and the patrons of the bar...so be careful not to make a fool of yourself there cos other patrons can be watching you and having a hell of good laugh in their hotel room.
Its got a big pool, you can also get a drink at the bar while you are in the pool and located very close to the beach. So for a light sleeper such as myself I can hear the waves at night. If you stay at the ground floor, you can just jump into the pool from your balcony! Our room was located at the 2nd floor.
U can also go for the spa (I didnt have time to try) or rent the jet skis from the hotel. I booked the jet ski at the main area (nearer to Shangrila Hotel) cos the sea water appears dirty at Hard Rock's side of the beach.
There are 2 restaurants here. For dinner we dine (by the pool) facing the beach with fire eating performances and the Chef at the time also did a performance of spinning pizza as part of the entertainment. It was buffet spread (Western and local) which was quite extensive.
The breakfast area was big, u can eat indoor or outdoor which was great. Breakfast buffet spread was also generous.
In conclusion, I was very pleased to stay here. The hotel is well maintained compared to other hotels in Penang which I had stayed before. Modern furnishing so u don't have creaky beds or chipped furniture. I like the way the bathroom was designed, u can slide the glass window and it opens up to your room so you can see whats going on in the room while you bathe. I think couples would love this effect!
Service was efficient. We partied hard during our stay and we got pretty drunk. My friend puked all over the bathroom and a bit in the room and our room was really clean the next day! The chambermaid really did her cleaning! We felt so bad for her that we leave her a real good tip before we left (hopefully she gets it).

Had enough of old world charms hotel and care for something hip & music that will ripple your mind? Check out the latest contemporary hotel along the stretch of Batu Ferringhi!
The hotel enjoys high occupancy since its soft opening, so book early. The official opening won’t be till next year 2010. I am sure Hard Rock Hotel will have a head banging pageantry to broadcast their official arrival in Penang!
Now, let’s get to the rooms. I so love the idea of the lagoon rooms! There’s a deck right in front of the room, where you can sunbath and when it’s time to cool, just jump right in to the pool… all that without really needing to walk out from your room!
The seaview studio suite is the only room I’ve seen so far, nevertheless, it has convince me that the plush bed will be “Oh so good” to sink in after a delightful night of endless flow of “intoxicating” drinks!
The Hard Rock Cafe, which my friends and I had endearingly nicknamed “Kedai Kopi Batu Keras”, based on translation from English to Malay, is the latest haunt of Penangites as well as travellers. Rocking & Jamming is what they do there! The only thing I find missing is the lack of a dance floor. I thought they would move the tables away like Hard Rock Café in Kuala Lumpur after dinner hours to make space for some dancing enthusiast who would love to rock along with the band.
If you fancy some tantalizing pizza? Check out the Pizzeria, dining alfresco whilst the Chefs struts their skills at the show kitchen! I really like the idea of the open concept kitchen!
The soft sandy beach with the arrays of water sports, something to look forward to! Bear in mind some water sports activities are not run by the hotel. How about some parasailing or sailing on the catamaran or banana boat ride? Maybe jet ski’s more your cup of tea? I know it’s mine! :)
I will stop now, not about to be carried away and start describing every single nook and corner of this hotel. Hmmm.. to think about it, I might have missed out some corners… Anyway, happy exploring.
Sun, Sea & Music! Why wait, rock along now to Hard Rock Hotel Penang!

Hard Rock Hotel Penang opened in Sep 2009, and what better time to check out the new hotel than on my upcoming birthday weekend!
I love the casual yet classy ambiance of the hotel, the lobby opens up to the pool area and my favourite part is lounging on the day-beds.
The best rooms in the hotel are the pool suites, it has direct access to the pool, just jump in from the patio. I was happy with our standard room, its nice and comfy, but maybe next time I'll get to try the pool suites.
