Harbor View Inn Santa Barbara Reviews
Mid-Price Hotel close the Santa Barbara Shore Aug 31, 2009
This was my 2nd time in Santa Barbara. However the first time that i stayed at a hotel with an ocean view.
The "Harbor View Inn" actually isn't a bad hotel. The location is perfect, you're just steps away from the state street, where all the shops are. And just a couple of footsteps away from the sand of the ocean. But we wanted to extend our stay for 2 more nights, and at that point we didn't get the same price we paid through our travel agent. The charged a regular double room 265$ (without taxes) for 1 night. If i'd would have stayed at a 5 star hotel, or an amazing hotel like those in vegas, i wouldn't complain about the price. This hotel however didn't have any style. No modern interior, no lobby with style, really nothing arty in the whole building. The beds were big, and confortable, but the bedsheets looked kinda old. The bathroom was clean, but it looked exactly the same as those i know from motels. Regular Tv station, regular fridge. Rreally nothing to say "wow". However after lots of talking they dropped the price to 190$ for a room with an ocean view. I gotta say that the 2nd room we got, after we extended for 2 more nights, we got a pretty fancy room. The interior kinda looked the same, but we had a nice balcony with direct access to the backyard, and the small pool outside. I can't say anything bad about the hotel. However the price you get at the lobby isn't really cheap, and i would never pay 260$ for a double room at that hotel. The Staff was alright... most of the crew was pretty friendly, however there were some who really weren't the nicest one. I'm also talking about those who didn't want to lower the room rate for us;) Through our travel agent we've got a double room for 170$ or so... which was totally ok. Hey it's really just a couple of meters away from the pier, ocean, sand... At our check-in we've got some tickets, which allowed us to get 10% off, at restaurants in the hotel area. Free Parking is included. They have a big parking between both hotel buildings, and at the backside of the hotel. No problem at all to get a parkingplace at any time. Watch Out! May 09, 2008
Refused to give back our money from the balance of our gift certificate. We had to contact the Santa Barbara Mayor and President of the Chamber Of Commerce to receive our refund. We will never, ever, go back to that place again.read entire review at TravelPost.com

Excellent location Feb 01, 2007
The hotel is located opposite to the beach and there is a shuttle stop nearby. So you can go downtown without having to bother about driving and parking. Rooms are nice and comfortable. We were skeptical about staying here after reading a couple o...read entire review at TravelPost.com
